Innovations in wound care which center on patient priorities ….
We were recently given pause for thought when asked to consider what dressing materials are available to match darker skin tones. I noted that there doesn’t seem to be any such products in my domain of clinical practice. This gap in the wound care marketplace reminded me of a quote by Ellie Lindsay. “We need to ensure that the patient perspective is a fundamental part of our research priorities; that we learn from the patient how their needs and experiences can shape innovations in wound care, to ensure that these innovations benefit them.” If our patients are saying that dressings which match their skin tones is something that matters, perhaps we should be listening.
